The Story
The Mercator knife was first designed in 1867 by Heinrich Kaufmann. It gots is name from the latin translation of Kauffman, meaning tradesman and in North America it is often referred to as "Black Cat Knife". Over time it became a house hold name both in Germany and around the world. From the original design of the K55K to the upscale Brass and Damascus, we have a Mercator for everyone!
About Otter-Messer- Otter-Messer was founded in a small cottage in Solingen Germany in 1840. They got their start as a traditional water powered sharpening shop. Today they still use traditional methods to make their knives by hand, producing timeless, high quality products. Otter-Messer believes that their knives don't just belong on camping trips, but are practical tools for everyday use.
